Candida has gotten a bad rap in years past, but let’s not forget that we all have candida. It is neccessary for a balanced digestive tract.
Without candida, we wouldn’t survive! Candida assists with food digestion and nutrient absorption.
There are many problems that can occur when candida is out of balance and there is an overgrowth. With kinesiology, it is possible to ascertain if there is an imbalance, and then test for the right supplements and lifestyle changes needed to balance it.
Why would there be a candida overgrowth in the first place?
One of the biggest reasons for candida overgrowth is due to use of antibiotic therapy. Let’s face it, Dr’s won’t tell you that antibiotics wipe out not only the bad microorganisms, but it also wipes out most of the friendly gut bacteria necessary for healthy digestion!
The singular probiotic, acidophilus, is not sufficient to replace over 200 varieties of natural microflora needed for healthy gut flora.
One of the biggest problems that humanity face is poor gut health.
There is one hardy gut flora that is not affected by antibiotic drugs and it is Candida Albicans.
With no other flora to keep candida in check, it grows uncontrollably, and may morph and grow appendages that lash against the intestinal walls creating thousands of tiny lesions. The intestines become vulnerable as these tiny lesions create pathways for the candida and perhaps even microsopic waste particles to enter the blood stream. This can cause the condition known as Leaky Gut Syndrome, and create symptoms that mimic many known diseases.Newly developed sensitivities, intolerances, and allergies to certain foods may suddenly appear.
Other possible causes for candida imbalances are:
Cancer treatments – studies indicate systemic candidiasis with cancer patients. The treatments used to treat cancer, also wipe out the billions of friendly flora.
Diabetes – since candida is a type of yeast, it thrives on sugar. Therefore, any sugar imbalances could be a contributing cause.
Weakened immune system – 50% of our immune system is in our gut, therefore, if it is weak, there is typically an imbalance of the healthy microflora.
Unhealthy diet – regular consumption of processed foods, refined carbohydrates, refined sugars, alcohol, dairy can definitely disrupt the gut flora. It is important to eat well.
Eating non-organic, factory-farmed animal meat and products from animals that have been injected with massive amounts of antibiotics.
Symptoms of candida overgrowth
- The most common sign is a white or greenish-looking coat on the tongue,
which may be more prevalent to see in the morning.
There may also be bad breath.
- Itchy skin around ears, nose, vagina or rectum.
- Exhaustion, feeling tired all the time.
- Not being able to lose weight easily.
- Uterine Tract Infection
- Craving for sweet things
- Brain fog
- Food sensitivities, intolerances
- Mood swings, anxiety, irritability, depression
What to do to bring candida into balance
- It is essential to not feed the yeast whilst there is an imbalance, therefore, eliminate all dairy, sugar, alcohol, fruit and grains (wheat, rye etc..)
- I quite like Dr Axe’s liquid only candida cleanse, so I’ll share it here:
Vegetable broth for 1-2 days (no food)Ingredients: (all organic) onions, garlic, celery, kale, sea salt, pure water. There are no instructions as to how many grams so put in what you feel is right.
Simmer for 1/2 hour with lid on and then discard the vegetables. Throughout the day sip on warm broth.
- Supplements to help bring candida back to balance:
Pau d’arco and black walnut hulls – work well together to boost the immune system and reduce the candida overgrowth.Caprylic acid – although it is not a probiotic it supports gut health in a big way and is very effective to combat an overgrowth of candida.
Multi-strain Probiotics to re-establish the flora. It is recommended to take copious amounts and would be safe to triple the stated dosage on the label. This needs to be taken for about 1 week to rebuild the flora.
Slippery elm powder helps to soothe the intestinal tract and repair any lesions. This is an important one for leaky gut. This herb is one of the most valuable medicines in World for digestive health.
For slippery elm gruel, mix the powdered inner bark with a little water and stir it slowly in pre-boiled, hot water until a thick paste is formed. Take 1 tbsp of the slippery elm gruel 5 times a day for 2 weeks.
If you are suffering from the symptoms listed above, or if you are just curious, you can be tested using kinesiology for candida imbalances. Various methods will then be used to strengthen your immune system and digestive tract and you will have the tools and the know-how to enhance your wellbeing and bring balance to the body.
